Ho'omana Restorative Therapies
About Your Therapist
Jeana Iwalani Naluai is a native Hawaiian committed to perpetuating her culture through the healing art form. Raised on the mainland in California, Jeana has held things Hawaiian very close to her heart, dancing hula and involved with Hawaiian music for many years, and has always dreamt of returning to her island home. Educated in the western tradition of Physical Therapy, she received a Bachelors degree in natural science and a Masters degree in Physical Therapy in 1998 from Loma Linda University.

After 4 years of private practice in outpatient Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, Jeana had the opportunity to study with honored teacher, elder, and friend, Auntie Margaret Machado, on the “Big Island” of Hawaii. At Auntie’s healing oasis located on Kealakakua Bay, a spark of remembering was ignited and Jeana reconnected with her true and highest self through the healing art of Lomilomi.

“It was as if my body had always known this work and I felt my spirit to be more alive than ever before.”

After completing Beginning and Advanced Lomilomi with Auntie Margaret, Jeana moved forward with an unquenchable thirst for learning the wisdom of her ancestors. During a two year private Lomilomi practice in Mill Valley, California, (the birth of Hoíomana Restorative Therapies) she began studies with Papa Sylvester Kepelino in Laíau lapaíau, (Hawaiian herbal medicine), and advanced techniques of Lomilomi with Dr. Maka'ala Yates.

Jeana has also studied various other healing therapies including reflexology, sports massage, lymphatic and visceral massage, cranio-sacral therapy, Northern Thai massage, and she is a Reiki Master practitioner.

Jeana Iwalani Naluai ’s continuing life journey has finally brought her back to her native lands of Hawaii and the island ofMaui. Jeana has been on Maui for three years and has studied with several other kumu(teachers) and kupuna (elders) since returning to the island including Auntie Mahilani Poepoe, Auntie Mary Fragas, and Rebecca Slavin. In October of 2005 Jeana became Kumu Lomi (Instructor) with the Hawaiian Healing Institute and is committed to continuing this work through teaching Clinical Lomilomi to anyone who wishes to participate in perpetuating this incredible healing technique. She has also opened a Hawaiian healing spa retreat, Hale Ho'omana Retreat Center (www.halehoomana.com) on the slope of Haleakala where she intends to promote education in cultural healing on a broad spectrum for many years to come..

“I invite you to participate in a wondrous healing journey with me on the island of Maui. It is my loving intention that you will travel home, to your inner spirit, where you will find peace, openness of heart, and an awakening to the light of your true nature. We will explore deeply, revealing a wellspring of healing energy within yourself that you may share with others in spreading the Spirit of Aloha throughout our mother earth.”
